Home Sweet Home

I didn't relies how much I missed home until today at Wal-Mart. One thing I noticed about living here in NM, people treat you differently than where I am from. I have NEVER experienced such ignorance until 6 years ago when I moved to this dusty state. I try not to let it bother me, because people ARE ignorant. They think there are only three races here (in NM) and that's it, very closed-minded people. I got some really dirty looks and all over what? I don't understand prejudice people. I will never understand prejudice people. I brush my shoulders off and keep truckin'. Today, though seemed overwhelming. I do miss home. I miss the smiles and the polite people that hold the door open for you as you enter a store. I miss the warm personalities that I experienced everyday. I'm not saying that they're aren't rude people where I am from, I'm just saying I never experienced that ever until moving here. I miss familiar faces. The sweet scent of lilacs in the air as the breeze floats over your nose. I miss my dad's wrinkled nose as he looks at me with that expression he always makes (indescribable.) The sound of his voice as I am in the same house as it echoed through the 30 year old walls. I miss the "Hello" that you get as you pass a total stranger walking on the wide streets. I miss the sound of other children at play. It always sounds like a warm place to live in. Children everywhere playing hockey in the street, skateboarding on large ramps in the middle of the road. I miss the grass that we used to play Frisbee in, the padded soft ground that you could fall in and not get that hurt. I guess I'm really home sick and didn't really notice until now. I try to make the best of it, but than I get reminded on days like this. You really don't understand, until you experience it yourself. I know there are mean, ignorant people all over this planet. It's a sad way to live, really. I see it from a different perspective now living someplace else for such a long period of time. Life, isn't easy, this I know. I guess there isn't anything like home and I miss it. I stay there for like a week when I visit and I get my fill and I am ready to move on. I just can't wait to go back...

Last Night

The phone rang off the hook last night. Everyone calling at once, weird. Usually, the phone doesn't ring at all, *snif.* So, last night Charles, had basketball league. The kids and I, hanging out all day. I was making dinner (nothing special, just pasta with meat sauce) and Marisa (my soon to be teenage step-daughter), called and the machine picked up right away. I couldn't find the phone so as I scrambled to find it I saw her name on caller- id. So, I picked up during half of her message and we talked for about 5 minutes. She was looking for Charles, and wanted to know what we were doing. So, I didn't think much of it. She usually calls and checks up on us. So, I continued with the dinner and checking up on my little ones. Then, I came into the bedroom where one of my answering machines are ( I don't know why we have two) and listened to her message. Turns out she was really calling, because she wanted to come over for dinner. So, I felt like I needed to call her back. I did and she didn't answer, I got her voice mail. So, I left her a message saying, "I just got a chance to listen to your message that you started to leave. You don't need Charles here to come and eat! Come on over. We're having spaghetti! The kids and I would love to see you. Hope you decide to come over! Bah-bye!" So, 7:30pm came and we were ready to eat and no Marisa. So, I figured she was too shy to come without Charles, being here. So, we ate and waited. I couldn't get a hold of Charles, because he was playing a game. 8pm came, and I knew he'd be done- so, I called and told him what was going on. I told him to call her and tell her to come over. So, he did and she agreed. Aiyana, also called right after leaving the message for Marisa. She wanted to come over today. So, I told her I'd have to talk to her daddy and find out times and I'd call her back. So, finally I got in touch with everyone and worked out tomorrows plans (which is for today.) Aiyana, is going to come over at 6pm and just sleep over. (which is better than bringing her home late tonight and having them come to our house Friday at 5:30am.) Charles, has a basketball tournament for the next couple of days so we're all going to go and support him. I can't wait to see him play. It reminds me of B.B. ("Before Brev") days. LOL. When we had no kids and would stay out late together. I'd watch him play basketball, we'd go out to dinner or a movie. Ya know...LOL. So, after the phone calls stopped. I read to the kids and put them to bed after 8pm. I heated the sauce for Marisa and continued to talk to Charles. Sure enough I heard a lil knock at the door. It was Marisa. I was so happy to see her. She came over after all. She's so shy, but so sweet. When I first came to NM her and I used to play hide-n-seek and I used to entertain her and April. Since, moving to Albuquerque her and I haven't been too close. So, I was glad she decided to come after all. Charles, wouldn't be home until way after 9pm. So, she ate and I sat with her and we talked for like 45 minutes. We chatted about the wedding, the kids, her and school, the family, just everything. She was comfortable. Charles and I, tell her all the time to just come over and join us for dinner, no need to call. We love it when she comes over. I hope she's more comfortable now and decides to drop in more often. I always wanted the "open door"- kind of home. Just come over, grab a plate and get full. She stayed until almost 9:30pm and had to get home for school the next day. I gave her a brochure of Mohonk. She had a lot of questions about the wedding place and NY. We had a really good conversation. She wants to go into the Navy when she's finished with High school so we were also talking a lot about that. She's a great girl and a great daughter. She couldn't be a better teenager. So, tonight is going to be another late night, but it will definitely be FUN! =)

Speed Bumps Ahead

A couple of days ago I had my dental visit. I needed my filling replaced. It was the worst experience of my life. The people were just unprofessional and it makes you really think. These people went to school all their lives to learn this stuff. You would think you'd be treated in the highest manor or at least be greeted when they come in the door. I don't think I'll be going there again. It was just the entire visit upset me so much. I've been thinking about it ever since it happened and I am still shaking my head. I guess it goes to show you....Just because you spend more than half your life in school, doesn't mean you know how to conduct yourself with the public. I'm not saying everyone...But this lady just wasn't having a bad day. Such is life- I guess. They won't see me over there again. This was actually the second time. The first time I didn't put too much into it. After Monday though I can see clearly the lady won't change. It's a routine for her. She's the only one that does fillings and cleanings and that's what I need to be seen for, so it's no getting around it. I will just move to their other branch. Ugh, more papers to fill out and getting my x-rays back is no picnic. I just did all that not too long ago. I am not happy there though and I don't think I should put up with their bad ways. So, a cause for more headache. Grr... Wedding plans are bumpy. It seems my cousin (The Reverend) has a full August schedule and might not be able to get out for the wedding. Meaning, I need to find someone else to marry us. YIKES! It seems like such short notice. He's going to let me know if he can change around his schedule to accommodate us. Then, I feel bad, because he's flying into NY just for that reason and heading out the next morning. That's kind of crazy. We'd reimburse him of course, but still kind of crazy. Ah, I don't know. Things are also so crazy...We just need to sit down and figure it all out. It's so hard to plan a wedding online. Although, I did read about this one lady that did her whole wedding online and got major discounts on everything. Which, I must say is very inspiring. I just want everyone there and everything to run smoothly. I'm getting some help through a friend, so that's good news. We were looking at wedding dresses online and she was able to pick out something I really liked, all by knowing three things. One- type of sleeve, Two-the neck design, and three-the skirt length. She brought up something I saw two years ago that really "wooed" me. Great Job! Anyway, it was fun to go back and forth and look at each others taste in designers. Now if I could just scoop her away, bring her here and we'd shop until we'd drop! That would be a blast! More than likely though I will be shopping by myself to find a dress, which I need to get cracking on. Like I said before there is lots to do. Wish me LUCK! I'm going to need it!

Long days, Long Nights

Sundays are such long days. It rained about 5:30am-6am this morning until about 11am. I knew the rain was coming. I miss the rain. Living in a desert like NM, we barely get rain. Although we're getting a lot more precipitation than we did last year. So, I knew it as going to be a dreary day. We picked Aiyana up this morning and had to return home to wait for those American Furniture people to call. I just knew the minute we stepped out the door, the phone would ring. Luckily, the waited until we were eating breakfast. Grr...I made them put shoe covers on their feet. People need to respect other people's wishes. My wish is to keep this stupid, wool rug clean in the kids room. To do that anyone that comes into our home must take their shoes off. Hey, it's not our house, we're just renting. So, they wore shopping bags on their feet while they worked on the bunk bed. You could tell they just loved my idea. Again, you need to respect a person's home and wishes. I was on my hands and knees scrubbing that stupid carpet after Brev had a bloody nose. I guess he decided to lean over his bed and watch the blood drip into shapes on that very pale wool thing. Grrrr...So, I'm not about to have two guys carelessly bring in mud and crap on the carpet that I just cleaned. No thanks! I hope Brevy doesn't decide to do that anymore the next time he feels another bloody nose emerging. Mommy, doesn't appreciate it. :( Didn't sleep well again last night. What the hell is up with the allergies? I have never been this bad in my life. I don't know what the hell is blooming in NM, but I wish it would bloom so I can get on with my life. I barely get any sleep these days. Now wonder why I am so cranky and have no patience. The problem isn't getting to sleep, it's waking up and sneezing, blowing, and wiping my drippy nose a million times. Then, I'm tying to breathe (this all goes on even AFTER already taken allergy medication, too) and can't. So, I lay there struggling to breathe out of one side of my nose and never get back to sleep. It's awful and I'll be glad when it's all over. I never went through this crap in NY. I must have immunities to all the allergens over there. Even Brevy, has the swollen, red, itchy eyes. He cried all the way home yesterday, because his eyes itched. It just happened and there was nothing I could do in the car. Poor Brevy...Has awful allergies like his mama. We fixed him up when we got home and he was better- instantly. Me, on the other hand suffers all day and night. I was kind of reluctant to see the rain today thinking maybe I wouldn't be so bad. Think again...My hypothesis wasn't correct- at all. So, here I am trying to make the best out of a miserable situation. Did I mention it feels like you want to rake your eyes out, because they itch so bad? Yeah, I thought I did...I'm not a happy camper, at all...

Navigator n me

Navigator n me Originally uploaded by Hsandia34.

LOVE LOVE LOVE NAVIGATORS. Anyone that knows me knows I LOVE these things. This one is fully loaded and goes for $60,000.00- Oh that's it? We'll get two! YEAH RIGHT! LOL... It's my dream car though. :)

The car show was so much fun. The kids had a blast. We got to see all the new hot cars. These are just a few of our favorites. I have a roll of these things on my camera. These pictures I posted are from the camera phone. The Navigator. Is my favorite as you've read, I'm sure. The kids got their Id's done by New Mexico State Police, too. They got their lil finger prints done and the whole 10 yards! Ha! They also had little motorized 4x4's for the kids to drive so Aamya and Brev, got to drive those as well. It was called the, "Kids Autobahn ."-LOL "Meesa", picked a Barbie car and Brevin ended up driving them all, but I think he's favorite was the HUMMER. (good choice, Brevy!) Aamya, was driving really well. Brev, on the other hand had me bent over steering for him. I'm not ever getting in the car with that boy. He was all over the place. Practically, running other kids over. Girls, are way more responsible and you can even tell at this age. Hahaha~ We all had such a good time. Lots of walking, but well worth it. Hope you enjoy the pictures. :)

This is the NEW Ford F-150. Like I said earlier, "Now this is a TRUCK!" It's nice!

Mini Coop Convertible

This is a favorite ever since Charles, saw the movie, "The Italian Job." It IS really cute. At first I didn't like them, but this one won me over. It's cuter from a side shot. These go for $33,000.00- We'll get three....lol....Brev sat in an orange one. He liked it. This is the only one to me that looks cute. It's good on gas and that's always a plus with gas being so high these days. :)

We went to the car show at the Albuquerque Convention Center. It was so much fun!!! We call this a "muscle car." It's the 300, not the 3000- oops. These go for about $40,000.00

This just looks pretty neat. It's just a concept and a good one at that. It's got the old look to it and that's why I like it.

HummerH2

HummerH3 Originally uploaded by Hsandia34.

They had the new Hummer H3. I did get a picture of the with my other camera. The H2 is actually better. The H3 is small, it's a little bit better on gas...but let's face it...It's a Hummer, it's going to use up TONS of gas...unless they come out with the Hybrid! That would be nice.

Car Show 2004 Posted by Hello

2004-CarShow

2004-CarShow Originally uploaded by Hsandia34.

Tomorrow, is the car show that we've so been waiting for. It's our day to just enjoy ourselves. After all everyone should be entitled to a day of 'freedom.' It doesn't come often for us so we're taking full advantage of it. I can't wait...I've already seen some hot new cars on the news...Of course the sports telecasters get to test drive them first. I just want pictures and be able to sit in them. Last year the Hummer was hot. This year who knows what will catch my eye, besides the Navigator. Aiyana, won't be knocking on our door at 5:30am either. She doesn't have school so that means, we get to sleep in. I'm telling you the day doesn't start off any better. =) Charles, has basketball tonight so it's just me and the kids. They're going to be taking a bath soon. Then, I'm going to cook dinner and we're going to eat until we're 'fat and happy,' as I say. lol...Sounds good to me. I did some spring cleaning today. I went through all my file cabinets and threw out a lot of old papers from work and some other junk. I can't believe how much crap we collect. It's crazy! No Spring cleaning tomorrow. With it being Earth Day the kids and I are going to plant seeds in the afternoon. It's going to be a fun day. :)

His new cut

Brevin's new cut Originally uploaded by Hsandia34.

Brevin, got a hair cut yesterday. He looks good for the summer time. I had the top spiked, but for today it was just down. He really likes it now. When they first cut, I asked him how he liked it. He said really loudly-I might add, "I look like a Ho-Bo!" One of Grandpa's words...lol. I just BUSTED out laughing and told him he looked handsome. :) It was really funny though.

*yawn*

I didn't sleep well last night. Once, I fell asleep I was OUT! Then, I had to pee...grrr...And it was after that I couldn't sleep well. I bet I tossed and turned all night. I even woke up Charles a few times. Usually, I can go back to sleep if I sleep really close to him, but nope- not this time. Then, the kids got me up too early this morning. So, I'll probably be really cranky later on today. We're supposed to pick Aiy up at her house today, too. What that means is, my kids get hyper whenever she's around...Meaning, I need my energy. *sigh* It looks like today is going to be a long one. Plus, I have a follow up appointment with my doctor this afternoon. I'm not looking forward to waiting an hour just to tell them all the wrong things they did last time. Plus, my allergies are getting the best of me. Two days ago I could have been cast in a movie as a "monster"- my eyes were so red. It was awful. Today, they're just watery. I wish what ever the hell tree is blooming, would bloom so I can get on with things and stop taking allergy pills that don't even work. (Starting to get cranky!)

Wisdom Teeth

There isn't anything *wise* about having your wisdom teeth if they don't fit in your mouth. So, I had my $45.00 consultation today. I waited for an hour all to pay a D.D.S to look at the x-ray that I brought with me. He told me how he'd do the procedure. I later found out that he'd do it for over a Grand. I paid him to look at my x-ray and then I have to pay him again for what would be a months rent, all for a 20 minute procedure. Go figure! ON TOP OF THAT...All he did was stare at my chest the whole entire time. HOW DISCUSSING! This guy went to Yale. I was reading all his plaques on the wall while I waited for his arrival. UGH...PEOPLE!!!! He had the nerve... And he didn't even TRY to play it off...He was talking to my chest. I was so....Appalled! I still am!! I hate men like that. They treat you like you're a piece of meat. So, between the wedding, moving and still having to pay our rent...I doubt he'll be the one extracting MY wisdom teeth. My teeth are way too "wise" for that one! Ha!

Fun and Cars

WE WENT TO THE PLAYGROUND, AGAIN. LOL-Kids love it. We love it, because they have so much fun and then they're tired for bedtime. YAY! How could you ask for anything more?! Ya couldn't! I'm even tired from all that play. I was chasing "Meesa" around. My calves are killing me. :) Now they're all tucked in their nice, warm, bunkbeds. Lucky Ducks! We're going to go to a car show at the end of the week. It was a lot of fun last year and this year it will be even better. We're a family that loves cars. Gotta stay up on what's new. They have things there you would never imagine they'd make. Really exciting!! Last year I got to sit in a hummer and my favorite, The Navigator...I'm a simple woman, couldn't ask for more than a Nav. And a hummer. What's wrong with that?! LOL- Yeah, well- anyway, it should be fun. Brev, loves cars too. He always wants to watch the SPEED channel...I'm like, "You're not even half grown and already watching the sports channels..." What gives? -Daddy!!! Grrr...It's funny to watch him watch the TV (only parents get that one.) His little eyes just light up watching those cars go around and around. Aamya? Her too! Right now she's in the stage where she likes everything her brother likes. Hopefully, she gets out of that soon. lol. Sometimes she's a "girly girl." Like I was saying... We love our cars! So, after all the appointments are over we'll be able to enjoy ourselves at the Car Show! :)~

Church & other stuff...

Great day outside! Went to church-Kids did an amazingly wonderful job. Trick was? A "frize"- as Brevy calls it...And it worked beautifully! Thanks Brevy! After church we were off to do our other bridal registry. We're all finished 'shopping.' It was fun! Not that anyone will probably look at it (i.e. aunts, uncles, mom and dad,) But we got it done and it was a blast! 4pm came and we got some rain...Nothing close to yesterday though..Scary tornado stuff! Called my mom and told her about the tornado warning. I think I freaked her out, too. I didn't sleep well at all last night. Sucks! I could have used a nap today, but I stayed up watching some old movie with Wesley Snipes starring. It was a good movie- So, I guess it was worth it. Now it's time to get the kids up. They need some outside fun. They've been taking late afternoon naps...It's going to be hard for me come Monday, to get them to go to sleep at noon again....Grrr...Not looking forward to that. We got a lot of important things done this weekend though so it's okay. We didn't have Aiyana today, because she wanted to go to her cousins party. I'm sure she had a blast! As for us...We had a fun weekend, too. Lots went on...I got to wear my summer clothes- So that's a definite plus. Anything with flip flops always works with me. Lots of appointments this week- all dental...Oh joy! The only good thing about that is Charles, comes home early, and that's always a plus! :-)

*Tornado in NM*

A funnel cloud *might have* touched the ground in Rio Rancho yesterday. Get this...We were just in Rio Rancho at Target yesterday. We barely made it home before what we thought was just going to be an "isolated thunderstorm"- which is what they said it was going to be...TURNS OUT THERE WAS A TORNADO WARNING for us. Can you believe that s*&^!!!!!????? Charles and I, watched the rain and hail as the kids took a nap yesterday. We had no idea about a tornado warning. I watch the news all the time, too- CRAZINESS!!!! The sky WAS very ominous. We were just happy to make it home before the storm. Stuff like this isn't supposed to happen in NM....Texas, yeah, but NM??!! Just goes to show you, I guess....Anything can happen!

I hear Wedding Bells...

Today, we had our phone appointment with the wedding coordinator at Mohonk. We got a lot of our questions, answered. They still aren't going to "throw" anything in for us. I figured that, because they don't make their money off of "small" weddings...They make it off the the HUGE weddings, so they could probably careless. Grrr...I knew that going into all this though. You can tell by just looking at the place, a Victorian Castle. It IS very pretty though. With my cousin willing to marry us that should sure help out. :) I'm SO Excited he's going to marry Charles and I! 'Family Connections' is what I call that one. =) We also, did one of our wedding registries today. It was a lot of fun scanning everything we wanted. LOL...Things are looking pretty good, so far! Let's hope it stays on the "up & up." I talked to my mom early in the afternoon. She was talking about wardrobe and how she didn't want to look like a "buzzard." She had me laughing about our family though. It should be fun I think with everyone together. How often do we get to do that? The answer, only when someone dies. Sad, but true! I haven't seen everyone is almost 10 years...My aunts and uncles, that is. Plus, with Charles' family there, there shouldn't be a dull moment. LOL... :-) Tomorrow, we're going to church. I can't wait! The kids on the other hand, probably can. They're so squirmy while at Church- I guess all the younger kids are wiggly. It's hard to sit till when you're a little one! Grr....They are cute when they won't eat a meal without saying grace. They're learning! Well, it's their bedtime and Charles and I, have things to do tonight...More tomorrow...

~Pollen, Bees, and Flowers~

Oh, do I love Spring time. It's such a beautiful time to watch the trees and flowers bloom. The hummingbirds come back. NM has hummingbirds everywhere, and I love to feed them. One thing I hate about Spring time is the ALLERGIES that I have to go through just, because things decide to bloom. UGH- I must have sneezed 100 times (no joke) between today and yesterday. Our temperatures are beautiful. I couldn't ask for anything more, except for those dreaded Allergies...Runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing my head off. I never had allergies until after I had brevin. My midwife said, "Allergies can come at any time." OH JOY! Thanks! lol...So, now I have them and I'm not a big "pill taker." I hate any kind of medication. The only thing I HAVE to take is my migraine meds...And I haven't had a migraine in a while (knock on wood.) So, I'm stuck with blowing my nose all day and it's NOT fun! :-P So, be it- I guess! So... "Meesa", is in Jemez today with her Grandma. That leaves Brev and I, together to get into some trouble. He's so silly! He's already played outside and went for a walk with me. Oh yeah, and a roadrunner was checking Brev out in our back yard. How funny!! It was just sitting there on the wall staring at Brev. I thought it was cute, because Brevin didn't even see him. LOL-The whole time mind you- him and I ,were sneezing and feeling the full effects of Spring. Gotta love the outdoors though, don't you?!

Playground Fun

Nothing better than running freely in open space surrounded by slides, swings, tunnels, and cool things to hop on! The Playground is our children favorite place to be and who can blame them? Yesterday, was all about outside fun. They started off in our back yard on their own slide and play house...Then, the fun really began at the newest playground in our area. They had so much fun!! We picked Aiyana up and off we went. I even got dragged down the spiral slide with Aiyana. She wanted me to hold her feet as she went down the slide, upside-down. That girl is CRAZY! What ended up happening was I smashed her and we went down faster than ever! Charles, was waiting to catch us at the end of the slide. hehe. It was fun though. I said I wouldn't do it again, because she scared me, but we ended up doing it another 3 more times...Grrr...LOL. Meesa, was hesitant to swing. I don't know why, because this chick was in her swing since she's been born. It was the only comfortable spot for her to sleep when she was a baby. Then, once she fell asleep on her own, we transferred her to her crib...So, I can't figure why she was so stiff on it at the park...She was making a good turtle face though. Aiyana and I, were laughing so hard at her. Meesa, has mastered getting up and down those steps, she so struggled with last year. It's so amazing to watch your children achieve their goals that they 'kind of' set for themselves at such a young age. It really is amazing! Brev, had lots of fun climbing the walls that they have and trying something new...The tire swing! They had a blast on that thing! hehe... After what seemed like hours at the playground, we ran down a hill and onto GRASS! Can ya believe it? Grass, in NM! Yep- that's right...It really could be a football field...So we chased each other to the car afterwards. It was a lot of fun! After that we decided something easy and quick for dinner....What's more easy and quick then, pizza?! Pudge Brothers at that! YUM! The kids were so hungry. After they washed up, they sat down and started eating. IT WAS SILENT! It's NEVER silent at our table! LOL! They MUST have been hungry!!! They had a really good day! I love the Spring weather. It's fun to go out and do things as a family. And what's even more fun is to see your children really enjoying themselves at a place they love, The Playground! :)

~Our Wedding~

US Originally uploaded by Hsandia34.

Today, Charles and I, set a date for our wedding. It's going to be 8/11! YAY! August, is a busy month for us so we had to weigh things carefully. It feels good to have a date, finally...We're happy!!! :)

Snack Time

Snack Time Originally uploaded by Hsandia34.

The kids were so silly today. Brev, had an idea that they'd eat oranges for a snack...So, they got orange juice everywhere, but it was good. lol. I think Brev, ate most of the TWO oranges. Don't put fruit near these kids, because it won't last long. I couldn't ask for anything more...Healthy eaters. They are already making good choices! :)

Family

I recently have been contacted by a cousin of mine via email who I didn't even know existed. Anything is possible with my family. My family is so HUGE it's impossible to know about everyone. Especially, since we're spread all over the U.S. and Canada and Lord knows where else. We've been emailing a couple of times. He's a Rev. and an ex Marine. WOW! It's been pretty exciting. Email and the internet can bring a distant family together, let me tell ya. That's how Jess and I are staying in contact as well. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't know that much about each other either. Now we email everyday and can share toddler stories and pregnancy stories as well. I love it! I always wanted a large family. Now I have one and it's been pretty interesting getting to know them. I'm pretty sure I still have a lot to learn about my family. I'm a family oriented person and can't wait to see what will go on in the future. :)

My Day

I had a visit to the dentist today. One of three appointments....Nothing serious though. I had my teeth cleaned and then I have a filling replacement coming up and also a consultation about my wisdom teeth ugh...All in the same month. I guess I need to have surgery to get them out...Sucks, because I don't even have them yet and they're already a pain in the Butt! LOL! Aamya, has her cleaning coming up, too. We're a family that likes to take care of our teeth. hehe...Well, nothing else big going on here...Another warm day, but the winds really kicked up this afternoon. Not a very pleasant experience outside. Brevin, broke his bunk bed already. Last night Charles, heard a loud CRACK. We went into Brevin's room and there was a slat lying on Meesa's bed. I asked Brev, over and over what happened and he says he was just lying there and it broke. I believe him though. I don't think he was jumping...he was tired. I think it just gave way. Gosh, it's only been 30 days today that we've had the crazy bunk beds. If Meesa was lying in her bed, she would have gotten injured. Piece of crap! So, today I spent an hour on the phone with the furniture store. They gave us replacement slats and some guy is going to come tomorrow and check them out. We need BOTH side rails replaced, because the slat cracked both side rails when it gave way. UGH!!!! They think it was a manufacturers defect. Oh joy for us...We also get the 'defected' one. Aren't we lucky! I tell yah... So, Charles and I, repaired it for the night. There's a big piece of ply wood there and an extra three more slats than before. *sigh* I guess that's the way things are made these days...Anyway, it's fixed for now...We'll see how they're going to accommodate us tomorrow. There's always something, isn't there???!!!!

Today

The Pope has passed away...I think we all knew it was going to happen...But knowing doesn't mean that it's not powerful and overwhelming. He is now home and at peace. It's still all very sad. Today, Charles had another basketball game in Jemez. We also went to Jemez on Friday. It was fun! Brevin, went with his Grandpa to check out the horses and feed them. Aamya and I went to watch the game with April. It was a good game! Then, after leaving Jemez we went to the park in Rio Rancho. There were kids everywhere. Brevy and Aamya had fun though. It's a nice park. Aamya, has grown so much from last year when we used to take them. I remember Brevin had to help her on the stairs. This time around she was sipping up the stairs and zipping right back down again. WOW...She's so fast. As she was playing I had a hard time keeping up. lol...They had lots of fun. It was a beautiful day today, too. Great day for outside play. :) It's about time we had some warm weather. I've been waiting. The kids were tired and went to sleep when we got home, which was fine with me. Charles and I can always use some alone time. Then, when the kids got up we hid eggs out back and they went hunting for them. We did that 3 times...lol...The sun was going down after that so we headed inside. It was fun watching them walk right by the eggs and not see them. hahaha...Charles and I had some good laughs about that. hehe...It was a good day. Sad, to learn about the pope though. He was a good man and helped many.

Pope John Paul II

Schools.Kids.Guns

Today, kids are much different than when I was a little girl (which wasn't that long ago.) Now-a-days you can't even send your children to school with out them being truly safe. You think of school as a "safe learning environment" for your children. Just a couple of days ago here in NM another mother thought the same thing, until her son (a child) came home with whip marks all over his back. The parents are outraged! Who did it? No one knows, because the kid isn't talking. Or what about the Minn. Shooting on the reservation? You send you kids off to school in confidence that they are learning valuable information to strive in today's society, only to then learn something tragic has happened...? Are children safe and out of harms way in school? Even with metal detectors and security guards, are children really safe? Apparently, not! For the kids that do these vicious acts,...There probably are no words...As parents, I can imagine would be thinking- what did I do wrong?? I think there are things leading up to these acts. Is it the child that should be held accountable? I think so! Personally, when a child takes another child's life, they should be punished for life. It's just so sad! All you ever hear on the news are the shootings, fights, and bulling that happen in our schools where our children are going everyday. I mean, these are just "babies"...Children...To think that someday soon I will have to put my own children into school, scares me to death. Just the thought that, for the first time my son and daughter won't be in MY care for most of the day, freaks me out. And there's nothing you can do about it, or is there? On Wifeswap (an abc show) A father, two daughters and a wife lived in a RV and have home schooled their children since day one. They also never spent too much time in one place, always moving around. The father thought he was sheltering his daughters from the violence and drugs that go on in school. You hear a story like that and think, "Is he crazy? You can't do that!" The girls will eventually be exposed to it all at one point in their lives. Don't you have to trust your children to make good choices? hmmm...Yeah, that sounds good, but what about the violence? Well, in the real world there is violence everywhere. UGH! So, what's a parent to do? Is the father crazy for taking his children away from that? Or is he just living out his own dream by traveling everywhere and not thinking about his children's education at all? One day as mother's, father's, grandparents/ guardian's we're going to have to release our small children into the hands of strangers and trust that the school will protect them and "handle things." That doesn't sit well with me at all. It's a scary thought! Then, you think well there's always home schooling. Then, you're children don't experience all the negative at school, but at the same time they are isolated and don't experience the "good" either. What's a parent to do? Is private school any better? It sure does cost enough, but are your children any safer? Can a child walk in there and do the same violent acts that they do in public schools? Madness! Are the parents/guardians to blame for the madness? Or is it the children that decide they will take the lives of others? One thing I know is, something needs to change. Something has got to be done. I believe it starts in the home when the children are little. They need to be taught not to solve things with violence. They need guidance. They need us to be there, that's a parent's job! Whether it's the parenting or not-- children make choices everyday at school and some of those choices impact the lives of others, forever.
